ATHLEDAL To Provide Meaningful Summer Work Experiences For District Youth

Washington, D.C. — ATHLEDAL is proud to announce its participation in the 2025 Mayor Marion S. Barry Summer Youth Employment Program (MBSYEP). This initiative, a hallmark of the District's commitment to empowering young residents, provides invaluable professional experience and mentorship opportunities.

Through its involvement, ATHLEDAL will offer hands-on roles to District youth interested in sports management, event planning, and business operations. Participants will gain practical experience in the planning and execution of major sports events, including tournaments and festivals organized by ATHLEDAL.

“We are excited to welcome the next generation of sports and business professionals through this program,” said Leigh Gayden, CEO of ATHLEDAL, LLC. “Providing mentorship and real-world experiences aligns with our mission to cultivate young talent and create pathways to success.”

The MBSYEP, established by the late Mayor Marion S. Barry, Jr., has provided thousands of young people with enriching summer employment opportunities. ATHLEDAL’s participation underscores its commitment to community engagement and workforce development.

Participants will be exposed to various facets of the sports industry, from logistics management and marketing to client relations and on-site event coordination. In addition, the internship will offer career development workshops and networking opportunities to ensure a well-rounded experience.

Applications for the MBSYEP are currently open for District residents ages 18 to 24. Selected participants will begin their roles with ATHLEDAL in the summer of 2025.
